School Meals

School Meals at St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School

We provide a variety of nutritionally balanced hot meals, offering both meat and vegetarian options, along with delicious home-made dishes. Our daily menu ensures healthy choices for all children. Meals are planned on a three-week rotating menu, providing a wide selection while allowing children to enjoy their favourite meals regularly.

How to Order School Meals

Our school operates a three-week menu cycle, with KS2 meals needing to be paid for in advance via Parent Pay.

  • If you don’t have access to Parent Pay, please contact the school office to receive login details.

Children in Foundation Stage, Year 1, and Year 2 are eligible for Universal Free School Meals, so no payment is required for these year groups.

Meal Charges

Year Group Cost Per Day
Foundation, Year 1 & Year 2 Free (Universal Free School Meals)
Years 3 to 6 £2.95

Packed Lunches

For children bringing a packed lunch, we encourage healthy, balanced choices. Please ensure lunch boxes do not contain nuts or products with nut traces, as we are a nut-free school.
🍇 Important: If sending grapes, please cut them lengthways to prevent choking risks.
All uneaten food will be sent home so parents can see what their child has consumed during the day.

Milk Provision

  • FREE milk is available for children in Foundation Stage who are under 5 years old.
  • Subsidised milk is available for children in Years 1 and 2 at approximately £15.00 per term.

To register your child for school milk, visit www.coolmilk.com.

Mid-Morning Snacks

  • KS1 (Foundation, Years 1 & 2): Free fruit is provided daily.
  • KS2 (Years 3 to 6): Children may bring a healthy snack from home, such as plain crackers, cheese, or breadsticks.

Please do not send snacks containing nuts.

Nut-Free School

We are committed to being a nut-free school to protect children with allergies. We ask parents to avoid sending nuts or nut-containing products in lunch boxes or snacks.

Do not send the following items to school:
❌ Packs of nuts
❌ Peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches
❌ Fruit/cereal bars with nuts
❌ Chocolate bars or sweets with nuts
❌ Sesame seed rolls
❌ Cakes or home-cooked meals made with nuts

While our school kitchen uses nut-free ingredients, we cannot guarantee that all products are completely free from nut traces.

If your child has a known or suspected nut allergy, please inform the school and provide any necessary medical information.

Good Hygiene Practices

We teach and remind all children to practice good hygiene by washing hands before and after eating. Children are also supervised during meal times to prevent food sharing, reducing the risk of allergic reactions.
