Welcome from the Headteacher
I am both honoured and excited to lead this incredible community. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by the warmth and spirit that makes St Wilfrid’s such a special place.
St Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary School lies at the heart of the community it serves. We work inclusively, alongside our local and wider community, striving to enable all children and members of our school to live life ‘in all its fullness’. Guided by our Christian values and through an inspiring, engaging, and creative curriculum, we aim to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and experiences that will allow them to thrive in an ever-changing world.
At St Wilfrid’s, our vision, ‘Learning and Growing Together; living life in all its fullness’ encapsulates our belief in nurturing the whole child. Education here is not just about academic success; it is about developing well-rounded individuals who experience life in its fullest. We are committed to creating an environment where every pupil feels safe, valued, and inspired; ready to take on challenges, explore new opportunities, and grow both academically and personally.
We recognise the importance of strong relationships between school, parents, and the wider community in achieving our shared goals. At St Wilfrid’s, we believe that parents are our partners in their children's education. Together, we work closely to support every pupil’s development, ensuring that the journey through school is a collaborative one. We value open communication with families and actively encourage parents to engage in all aspects of school life - from classroom activities to wider school events. By working together, we can create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels supported both at home and at school.
Our ties with the wider community are equally vital. We are committed to strengthening these connections, believing that a strong community fosters a sense of belonging and purpose in our children. Whether through local partnerships, community events, or involvement with our church, we actively work to ensure that St Wilfrid’s remains at the heart of the community it serves.
Our school is built upon core values that guide everything we do: kindness, love, faith, respect, resilience, and joy. We believe that living out these values as virtues will equip our pupils not only for success in school but also for life beyond the classroom. Every child is unique, and our mission is to support them in discovering their strengths, embracing challenges, and becoming confident, compassionate individuals.
These values are deeply rooted in the scriptures. We take inspiration from Matthew 7:12: ‘So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,’ and from Galatians 5:22: ‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.’ These biblical teachings form the foundation of our school ethos, reminding us daily of the importance of treating others with love and kindness.
I look forward to working closely with all members of our school community to ensure that every child has the best possible experience here.
